The town of Homer describes itself as the ‘quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem’. Or at least that is what the bumper stickers at the brewery said.
There is indeed a lot of fishing going on in the area. Everywhere you look someone is offering Halibut Charters. But we weren’t there to fish.
(more…)As we’ve mentioned, we quite enjoyed Alaska, we didn’t want to miss our last opportunity for a visit, so we made the detour to Stewart and Hyder.

Excited for you 🙂
Pat
Thanks, hope to see you on the road in Alaska perhaps?
What Cities are you going to in Alaska? I can check what days we’ll be in them 🙂
We aren’t exactly sure yet, we know we’ll be in Anchorage from 21-31 May.
From there we may be heading up through Fairbanks then on to Deadhorse, but we’ll also take some time to explore Denali National Park either on the way to or from Fairbanks.
We’re also interested in exploring the Kenai Peninsula and there are several roads that sound amazing to drive.
So as you can see, we don’t really have a plan, we might have a better idea closer to the time… or we may still be winging it! (Probably still winging it)
But if you have any places on your list that you reckon we really shouldn’t miss in Alaska, please let us know 🙂
