Not satisfied with one trip above the Arctic Circle. Who would be? We decided it was time to investigate the Canadian Arctic and find out the Northwest Territories had to offer (or at least the small part of it that we could afford to visit—both financially and in terms of time).
It seemed like the logical thing to do while we were in the neighbourhood at any rate.
(more…)El Espinazo del Diablo (the Devil’s Backbone—a mountain pass along Mexico’s highway 40) is an infamously sinuous mountain road that joins the towns of Mazatlán, Sinaloa and Durango, Durango. The road has a bit of a reputation for punishing travellers with terrifying accident-inducing winding turns. Luckily travellers are also rewarded with spectacular views as the road runs along a mountain ridge, high in the Sierra Madre mountains.
This seemed like exactly the kind of thing we should investigate further.

Excited for you 🙂
Pat
Thanks, hope to see you on the road in Alaska perhaps?
What Cities are you going to in Alaska? I can check what days we’ll be in them 🙂
We aren’t exactly sure yet, we know we’ll be in Anchorage from 21-31 May.
From there we may be heading up through Fairbanks then on to Deadhorse, but we’ll also take some time to explore Denali National Park either on the way to or from Fairbanks.
We’re also interested in exploring the Kenai Peninsula and there are several roads that sound amazing to drive.
So as you can see, we don’t really have a plan, we might have a better idea closer to the time… or we may still be winging it! (Probably still winging it)
But if you have any places on your list that you reckon we really shouldn’t miss in Alaska, please let us know 🙂
